Understanding the Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme

The Dispute Resolution Agency’s Fixed Fee Mediation Schemes offer a revolutionary approach to delivering value-driven mediation services. These schemes are designed to make mediation more accessible, transparent, and efficient for a range of disputes.



Mediators play a pivotal role in these schemes, benefitting from clear fee structures, no commissions or referral fees, and direct client engagement. 

Scheme 1: Small Claims Fixed Fee Mediation

A. Purpose: Tailored for disputes valued at up to £50,000, offering simplicity and affordability for claimants.

B. Fee Structure:

• Joint Clarity Session (3 hours, including preparation): £390 excl. VAT
• Half Day (up to 5 hours): £325 + VAT per party
• Full Day (up to 10 hours): £650 + VAT per party
• Guaranteed Hourly Rate: £65 + VAT per party

Scheme 2: Micro Business Fixed Fee Mediation Scheme 

A. Purpose: Focused on small businesses (1-50 employees) to resolve workplace and commercial disputes efficiently.

B. Fee Structure:

• Joint Clarity Session (3 hours, including preparation): £330 excl. VAT
• Half Day (up to 5 hours, includes 1 hour preparation): £550 excl. VAT
• Full Day (up to 10 hours, includes 2 hours preparation): £1,050 excl. VAT
• Guaranteed Hourly Rate: £55 excl. VAT per party 

Scheme 3: Individual Mediation Fixed Fee Scheme 

A. Purpose: Designed for individuals dealing with personal, community, or neighbourhood conflicts.



B. Fee Structure:

• Joint Clarity Session (3 hours, including preparation): £250 excl. VAT
• Half Day (up to 5 hours, includes preparation): £250 excl. VAT
• Full Day (up to 10 hours, includes preparation): £500 excl. VAT
• Guaranteed Hourly Rate: £25 excl. VAT per party 

Mediator Engagement and Forwarding Enquiries

A. Eligibility Criteria:

• Mediators must be Premium Members of the DRA Directory.
• Eligible mediators can activate their participation status via the DRA Directory dashboard.

B. Forwarding Enquiries:

• All consumer enquiries will be forwarded directly to the mediator.
• Mediators manage client interactions, planning, and billing—empowering professional independence.

C. Zero Commissions or Referral Fees:

• Mediators retain 100% of the fees earned, ensuring full financial benefit.
